As we approach the end of another academic year, it has been brilliant to have once again been able to undertake the many activities we are used to, such as sports days, new starter meetings, leavers events and other activities. Your support at all of these events has been overwhelming and I would like to thank you for this on behalf of both staff and pupils.
Staffing Changes
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Mrs Exley at the end of the academic year. Mrs Exley has worked at Spa Academy, including when the school was known previously as Sutton Rd and Askern Spa, for over 30 years and, as well as teaching many of your children, even taught a few of our parents over the years. She will be very much missed by the whole school community and will be remembered for her kind and understanding nature, as well as her willingness to support so many of her colleagues in school. We wish her all the very best of luck moving forward.
We welcome to the team Miss Burton, who will take up a teaching post in Year 5.

End of year reports & SEN
End of year pupil progress reports will be sent home on Friday 15th July. Following this we will be offering parents the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress with their class teacher. A reply slip, sent out with the reports will give parents the following three options:
For those parents who have children on the SEN register, there will be an opportunity to meet with your child’s new class teacher early in September.
School Uniform
Just a reminder that school uniform is no longer stocked in school and should be ordered through the SWI uniform website. Head to https://www.swischoolwear.co.uk/ register as a parent and browse the site, searching for Spa Academy Uniform.
We are also asking for any donations of school uniform, especially Year 6 ties, to allow us to support our families and to allow us to have spare uniform in school if needed. Please send in your donations to the school office.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that school shoes should be black. Unlike at secondary school, trainers are permitted but should be all black with no visible colour on the soles or laces etc.

Goodbye to Y6
We will also be saying goodbye to our Y6 pupils as they take the next step in their education. We have been entertained by their amazing musical performances in our end of term show and shed a few tears at our leavers assembly. Some of our pupils have purchased leavers hoodies and it would be lovely if they could wear these, in place of their usual uniform for the last few days.
If Y6 pupils would like to bring in a t-shirt or old school jumper to sign, we will be arranging an opportunity for them to do this on Friday 15th July.
I truly hope our Y6 pupils look back on their time at Spa Academy like we do, as a positive one with plenty of happy memories. From all at Spa, we send them off to secondary school with our love and best wishes in the hope that they go onto achieve great success in life.
Mrs Emma Anderson
